Authorities identify 29-year-old man killed in Arlington traffic crash

An Arlington man has been identified as the driver killed in a Wednesday morning crash at an Arlington intersection, authorities said Thursday.

The driver was 29-year-old Kristian E. Alvarado, who was pronounced dead just after 8 a.m. Wednesday, Arlington police said.

A second person involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fatal wreck was reported at 7:57 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of North Oak Street. at W. North Street.

Witnesses told Arlington police that a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound on Oak when it ran a stop sign at an intersection and was hit by a Mercedes Metris van which was going west.

The driver of the Malibu was later identified as Alvarado, who died at the scene.

The driver of the van was taken to a local hospital.

Police closed the intersection for approximately three hours while the investigation was completed.
