Some of 90 cattle involved in Arlington I-30 crash have died after truck wreck, police say
Some of the 90 cattle that were being hauled in a truck that was struck by a semi Monday morning on Interstate 30 in Arlington have died, Arlington police said.
Police did not have an exact number, but they confirmed that some of the cattle had died from the wreck.
The truck hauling them crashed after it was hit by semi-truck that was changing lanes on Interstate 30 in Arlington, police said.
The semi-truck driver did not stop after the accident.
The driver of the cattle trailer was not seriously injured, police said.
Police responded to the report of a wreck involving a cattle trailer at about 3:40 a.m. Monday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 near Fielder Road in Arlington.
The driver of the cattle trailer told police that a semi-truck attempted to switch lanes and hit the side of his truck, which caused his truck to roll on its side.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office was assisting Arlington police with offloading the cattle and transporting them off the highway.
Westbound I-30 has been reduced to one lane while work continues with the cattle. Arlington police said it could take until at least noon to finish transporting the cattle.
Police said drivers should seek alternate routes in the meantime, encouraging drivers to get of on Lamar to Green Oaks Boulevard, then follow that around to Eastchase Parkway.
