Man dies after crashing into firetruck in Arlington, police say

A man died when he crashed into a firetruck that was parked at the scene of a crash in Arlington, police said.

Arlington police and fire crews were at a major crash in the eastbound lanes of the 600 block of East Interstate Highway 20 on Saturday at 12:46 a.m. A firetruck parked near the crash scene, where a vehicle was flipped over.

The firetruck was in the left lane and inside shoulder of the eastbound lanes. The driver and passenger of a sedan were driving in the left lane and did not move over to avoid the firetruck, which had its emergency lights on, Arlington police said.

The sedan crashed into the back of the firetruck. The driver and passenger went to the hospital and the driver died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
