A Mansfield special-education teacher was in jail Tuesday afternoon, accused of aggravated sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator and a student, authorities said.

Mary Orr Intermediate School teacher Kelly Williams, 62, was arrested Monday. His bail was set at a total of $300,000.

The school is for fifth- and sixth-graders.

A Mansfield school police report says officers were called just before 10 a.m. Monday. The offense occurred in a boys restroom, the report indicates.

Williams was hired in August 2010, according to the district’s website. A news release says district police are working with the Tarrant County district attorney’s office.

In a letter sent home to parents, Principal Duane Thurston wrote that parents of children in “this teacher’s classroom” had been notified.

“Due to laws protecting student privacy rights and to preserve the integrity of the investigation, the district is limited in the information that can be disclosed,” the news release said.
