Traffic alert: one of the DFW’s most popular holiday light tours opens Friday

If you’re planning to visit the 43rd annual Interlochen Christmas Lights tour, which starts Friday night, be prepared for slow traffic.

About 200 homes participated last year. The tour has been rated one of the 10 best in the U.S. by Martha Stewart.

Last year, the event attracted tens of thousands of visitors. To keep vehicles moving, Arlington police will control traffic into the west Arlington neighborhood from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. through Christmas night. Drivers must enter the neighborhood at Westwood Drive at Randol Mill Road. All other streets into the neighborhood will be closed.

Traffic must keep right at all times, keeping the left lane open for homeowners and emergency vehicles. The city has posted a map online as a tool for visitors.
