Woman struck by car, killed crossing Arlington street

A woman was struck by a car and killed trying to cross E. Pioneer Parkway Friday night, Arlington police said.

The incident happened in the 1400 block of the roadway shortly before 8 p.m. police said.

Investigtors believe she was attempting to cross the road at a point not designated with a crosswalk and was hit by a passenger car in the center lane, police said.

The driver stopped at the scene, is cooperating with the investigation and is not expected to be charged, police said.

The woman was identified as Michele Acosta, 47, of Arlington, according to officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. She died from multiple blunt force injuries and her death was an accident, the medical examiner’s office ruled.
