A convicted felon who flipped his Jeep on an Arlington freeway Thursday night had marijuana, Ecstasy and an AR-15 rifle in the vehicle, police said.

The driver, Michael Archie, was arrested and faces charges of driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana and controlled substance possession, among others, police said.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., Archie was in an accident in which he flipped his Jeep from Interstate 20 to State Highway 360, police said.

Leaving his vehicle laying on its side, Archie ran down the freeway embankment, at one point falling, police said witnesses told them.

He was stopped and arrested by police as he walked south toward Green Oaks Boulevard, police said. They found the rifle and drugs inside the Jeep when they searched it after the accident.

Archie has previously been charged with driving while intoxicated, assault causing bodily injury, evading arrest and failure to identify himself to a law enforcement officer. It was unclear where the felony convictions took place, according to Lt. Christopher Cook, Arlington police spokesman.
