Arlington police release composite of murder suspect in basketball game shooting
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who fatally shot a 21-year-old Dallas resident after an altercation over a basketball game at an Arlington park Sunday.
Police released a composite of the suspect Wednesday.
The victim, Charles Harris, was playing basketball with friends at Brantley Hinshaw Park near the 2100 block of Overbrook Drive when three strangers asked to join the game, according to a news release.
During the game, Harris and one of the men got into a shoving match.
Harris and his friends were walking to their vehicle when the man with whom Harris had been arguing fired a shot from a handgun in their direction, striking Harris.
Harris was taken by his friends to a hospital, where he died.
Harris had recently moved to Dallas from Michigan, police said.
The gunman was described as having a goatee and shoulder-length dreadlocks with blonde tips. He was wearing a white tank top, white shorts with a light blue trim at bottom, tall black socks and royal blue Nike Air Force One high-top shoes.
