A 77-year-old man died early Sunday after he crashed his vehicle into a parked car — and after his daughter had tried to stop him from drinking and driving, police said.

A family member told police the man, identified as Phuong Nguyen of Arlington on the Tarrant County medical examiner's website, was intoxicated.

His daughter tried to stop Nguyen, but he got into his vehicle and slammed into a parked car in the 3300 block of Daniel Drive, the same block where he lived, according to police reports..

He was rushed to an Arlington hospital, where he died at 12:37 a.m. Sunday of trauma to his chest, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's website. His death has been ruled an accident, the website states.
