Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who invaded a woman’s home Friday, robbed her of cash and jewelry and assaulted her in what they called “an unfortunate crime of opportunity.”

On Wednesday, police released a composite sketch of the man who they said forced his way into a residence in the 2100 block of Marilyn Lane.

Police were called to the residence at about 8:45 a.m. Friday by the victim, who said a man with a knife came up behind her as she walked to her front door. He demanded money and forced his way into her home, police said.

After she gave him money, he ordered her into her bedroom to look for more. He also stole jewelry, including a gold necklace with a heart-shaped pendant, police said. After robbing the woman, he tried to sexually assault her and wound up physically assaulting her, police said.

The man is described as a light-skinned African-American 28 to 30 years old and 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He had a thin build and wore a goatee that hung an inch from his chin, police said. He was wearing Reebok sweatpants, a gray hooded jacket with a zipper in the front, and tennis shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jacklyn Donalson at 817-459-5632 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477. The tipster may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
