Two people were injured in a fiery one-car wreck on Matlock Road in Arlington around midnight Tuesday. The driver of the vehicle hit a transformer in the 3300 block of Matlock Road, breaking a gas line and sending a plume of fire into the air.

Two people were hospitalized early Wednesday morning after a single-car wreck in Arlington.

Around midnight, a southbound vehicle hit a transformer in the 3300 block of Matlock Road in Arlington, according to Arlington Police Department spokesman Steven Bartolotta.

Bartolotta said the occupants were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance — the driver was in critical condition and the passenger was stable.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation late Wednesday morning.
