Gas leak ignites in Arlington neighborhood

A gas leak burned for hours in the Interlochen neighborhood in Arlington on Tuesday.

Just before noon, a utility contractor unrelated to Atmos Energy hit a 4 inch gas line while drilling near the intersection of Crowley Road and Verona Court, according to Arlington Fire Department spokesman Lt. David Tyler. An Atmos crew tried to control the leak, but at 4 p.m the leak ignited from an undetermined source.

After more than three hours, the gas supply was shut off and the fire went out, according to a news release.

One worker had a minor injury during the leak. No residents were hurt or relocated.
