Want to let people know about a community event? We can help with that, and it’s free!
At the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, we consider it our mission to produce stories that connect with local readers.
That connection can happen in many ways. Maybe we answer a question you have about the bad weather headed our way or the latest construction project on the Airport Freeway. Maybe we explain a trend in the real estate market that affects the value of your home. Or maybe we call out local officials for mishandling your tax dollars.
However it happens, we hope that connection helps you to navigate life in North Texas and to be a more engaged and informed citizen.
Now, we’re offering a new way for you to engage and connect in our community at a different level. We’re launching a Community Bulletin Board that will allow you to publicize a community event or surf a listing of events for something that might find its way onto a “things to do list” for you and your family.
And the best thing of all? There’s no charge for a basic event listing that includes a name, date, time and place, along with up to five lines of text. If you need to go over that length, it’s $1.50 per line per day. The listings will run online and in print.
Is your church having a clothing giveaway or a trunk-or-treat? Is your club hosting a fundraiser? This bulletin board can help publicize the event and make it more successful.
Here’s how to make a post about your event: Go to our Community Marketplace homepage by clicking the “classified” tab on the drop-down menu on the top left of the star-telegram.com homepage. Click the “place ad” tab at the top right of the page, then select “classified” from the menu.
For the next steps, click the “announcements” tab and select “community events” from the menu. Then simply follow the directions to enter your event listing.
You will need to create an account to make a post, but there is no charge for that. And have a photo or image of a logo ready to upload with your listing.
Community events are part of the diverse cloth that makes up the fabric of who we are here in North Texas. We’re happy to serve as an avenue to build connection points and a sense of community in Fort Worth and beyond.
I invite you to try out our new Community Bulletin Board and to send feedback to me at scoffman@star-telegram.com.
