Here’s where you can donate, volunteer, help flood victims in southwest IL, St. Louis
At least 25 families in East St. Louis, along with households across the metro-east and St. Louis, have been displaced after flooding damaged homes this week.
We’ve rounded up some flood relief efforts accepting donations and seeking volunteers in southwest Illinois and St. Louis communities.
Here’s how you can help Illinois and Missouri flood victims
United Way of Greater St. Louis accepts donations online to provide immediate and long-term assistance to those affected by flooding. You can also visit the organization’s website to find local volunteer opportunities.
Community Lifeline in East St. Louis is accepting donations of food, clothing and toiletries at 1764 State St.
Heat Up/Cool Down St. Louis is accepting donations to assist residents with utility bill payments.
Operation BBQ Relief deployed to the St. Louis area to provide free hot meals to those affected by the disaster. You can donate to the organization online.
The Salvation Army has offices across the St. Louis area, and you can call 314-646-3255 to ask about volunteering with emergency disaster services locally. You can also donate to The Salvation Army online.
The American Red Cross has offices in the St. Louis and Belleville areas, and you can make donations online. You can also volunteer with disaster relief efforts with the Red Cross or start an online fundraiser for your community.
The St. Louis Area Food Bank accepts donations online. You can reach out to 314-292-6262 or email mcooper@stlfoodbank.org about volunteer opportunities.
Local restaurant Pizza Head is seeking donations of blankets, towels, clothing, food, water, pet supplies and more. The drop-off location is at Pizza Head (3196 S Grand Ave., St. Louis, MO 63118. Mention “flood relief.) Volunteers are also needed to help with sandbagging and distributing supplies. You can message @PizzaHeadSTL on Facebook for volunteer information.
Gateway Pet Guardians is accepting donations to help with shelter and foster costs for the animals in the facility’s care, including dozens of animals displaced from St. Clair County Animal Control due to flooding.
