Tarrant County surpasses 51,000 COVID cases as hospitalizations continue to climb

Tarrant County update reported 352 new coronavirus cases and four more deaths on Friday.

The latest COVID-19 deaths include a Fort Worth woman in her 40s, a White Settlement man in his 50s, a Fort Worth woman in her 80s, and a Mansfield woman in her 90s. All had underlying health conditions, according to officials.

Hospitalizations for patients confirmed to have coronavirus were at 9% of all occupied hospital beds in the county as of Thursday, the highest rate since Aug. 25. The county hit a pandemic high of 20% on July 23. As of Thursday, 347 hospital beds in the county were occupied by confirmed COVID-19 patients.

The county has reported more than 300 cases each of the past four days and 11 times in the past 14 days. There have been 17 pandemic-related deaths in the past four days.

Tarrant County has reported 51,081 COVID-19 cases, including 670 deaths and an estimated 44,374 recoveries.
