Tarrant County reports 8 new deaths, 262 new confirmed coronavirus cases Saturday

Tarrant County reported eight new deaths and 262 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing new totals to 653 deaths and 49,159 confirmed or probable infections since the start of the pandemic.

The county has not yet released any information on those who died.

The county reports 43,040 recoveries but notes that those numbers are not exact and recoveries are not a required statistic for hospitals or individuals to report. Deaths and recoveries are counted in the total number of confirmed cases, and 3,488 of the cases are considered probable rather than confirmed.

The highest number of confirmed cases have been in Fort Worth and Arlington, with 22,483 and 8,878, respectively. Fort Worth has reported 305 deaths, while Arlington confirmed 114.

The next highest number of infections came from Mansfield with 1,185 total confirmed cases. White Settlement had the third highest number of coronavirus deaths at 27.

The county has 282 hospital beds occupied by confirmed coronavirus patients and 572 ventilators available.

Patients 65 or older make up 72% of reported COVID-19 deaths in the county.

Tarrant County classifies the level of infections through community spread as substantial.
