Tarrant County reports 387 new coronavirus cases, 13 new deaths

Tarrant County reported 387 new coronavirus cases and 13 new deaths on Saturday.

This brings the county to a total of 46,537 cases and 633 deaths, according to county data. There have been an estimated 40,840 recoveries.

The county has not yet released information on the 13 new deaths. This is the most new deaths since Aug. 22, when 22 deaths were reported. Thirteen deaths also were reported on Aug. 29.

Hospitalizations in the county continue to be under 10%. The most recent data showed COVID-19 patients using 6% of all occupied beds, down from 20% in July, according to county data.

The county’s rate of positive cases is 11%, up from 9% in late August and early September. Vinny Taneja, the county’s public health director, had warned on Aug. 11 that an 11% rate puts the county in the “red zone,” according to White House criteria.

Neighboring Dallas County reported 156 cases of COVID-19 and four new deaths on Saturday. Of those cases, 155 are new and one is from April, according to Dallas health officials.

The new deaths are three men in their 60s from Grand Prairie and a woman in her 70s from Grand Prairie, according to a Dallas County press release.
