Dallas County still inundated with unreported COVID-19 cases from earlier this summer

Dallas County reported 714 additional coronavirus cases and three deaths on Friday.

Of the 714 cases, only 255 are from this week. The others, including 439 in June, 15 in July, and five from earlier in August were previously unreported because of a backlog in the state’s data reporting system.

The three latest COVID-19 deaths include a Grand Prairie woman in her 50s, a Garland man in his 60s, and a Dallas man in his 80s who was a resident of a long-term care facility. All three had underlying health conditions.

The county has confirmed a total of 67,486 COVID-19 cases, including 849 deaths. County officials do not report recoveries.

Beginning Saturday, all City of Dallas and Dallas County coronavirus testing sites are open to anyone older than 5 years old, with or without symptoms. Testing locations can be found at the Dallas County website.
