Dallas County ties single-day record with 20 coronavirus deaths, reports 1,000 cases

Dallas County public health authorities on Tuesday reported 1,000 new coronavirus cases and 20 new deaths, which tied a single-day record set June 30.

The deaths were of two men in their 40s, two men in their 50s, two men in their 60s, eight people in their 70s, five people in their 80s and a woman in her 90s, Dallas County Health and Human Services said.

The county has reported at least 1,000 cases for 12 consecutive days. In total, there have been 35,914 novel COVID-19 cases in Dallas County, including 477 deaths.

About a third of the deaths are connected to long-term care facilities, DCHHS said. Half of cases reported since June 1 were diagnosed in people between 18 to 39 years old.
