Dallas County again hits all-time coronavirus high; Hispanics infected at highest rate

Dallas County reported 328 new coronavirus cases Friday, a single-day high for the fourth consecutive day.

Three more COVID-19 deaths were also reported, including men in their 60s from Garland, Irving and Richardson. The Garland man did not have underlying conditions, according to health officials. All three had been hospitalized.

Dallas County has confirmed a total of 13,585 COVID-19 cases, including 280 deaths.

Hospitalizations and ICU admissions for COVID-19 remain at an all-time high during the pandemic, according to health officials. Emergency room visits for COVID-19 symptoms for a 24-hour period ending Thursday in Dallas County were at 498 patients, which is about 23% of all ER visits.

Among the total non-hospitalized COVID-19 cases in the county, Hispanic, Asian and Black people have had the highest rates of infection, according to data provided by health officials. More than 60% of overall COVID-19 cases have been Hispanic.
