Tarrant County reports single-day high in coronavirus cases Thursday, plus 45th death

Tarrant County reported a single-day high 129 new coronavirus cases and its 45th pandemic-related death on Thursday.

Earlier this week, county health officials cautioned there was a temporary lag in lab results being reported, so Thursday’s report likely includes some test results that had been delayed.

The deceased was an Azle man in his 60s who had underlying health conditions. He’s the first reported COVID-19 death in Azle.

The county has reported 1,559 COVID-19 cases, including 265 recoveries and 45 deaths.

Of the 45 coronavirus deaths, 27 patients have been 65 or older, 14 have been between 45 and 64, and four have been between 25 and 44.

Sixty-four percent of the deaths were patients who contracted the disease from an unknown local source. Of the 45 deaths, 30 were male and 15 were female.

“Every death is regrettable and reinforces how important it is for everyone to stay the course and listen to our leadership,” Tarrant County Public Health Director Vinny Taneja said in a news release.
