There were three new cases reported in Fort Worth; two new cases each in Arlington, Grand Prairie and Mansfield, and one case each in Euless, Forest Hill, Keller, North Richland Hills and Southlake, according to the county department of health. There has been a consistent rise in the number of coronavirus cases across the county, with 14 new cases on Friday and at least 10 cases on the three previous days.
The county was listed in the top 10 in Texas in terms of coronavirus cases on Saturday, according to data from Texas Health and Human Resources. The number of cases, however, wasn’t updated as of 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
Neighboring Dallas County is No. 1 in Texas with 367 cases, according to the data. Dallas County reported 64 new cases Friday and on Wednesday saw its largest single-day increase in cases with 78.
In Tarrant County, about 50 percent of transmissions were the result of travel and about 38 percent were the result of an unknown community source, according to the county health department. Roughly 7 percent of cases came from a known community source.
Officials in Tarrant and Dallas counties are hoping stay-at-home orders, which have dramatically altered life and culture, will have an effect in curbing the spread of COVID-19.
