In-home testing begins in Tarrant County for residents monitored by health officials

An in-home testing program for residents being monitored for COVID-19 began Friday in Tarrant County.

Trained MedStar personnel will go to homes and complete a medical assessment and collect a sample needed for additional testing.

The program is a partnership between Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) and MedStar.

Officials with TCPH will provide MedStar with test kits and a list of people who may require in-home testing.

As of Friday, health officials said there were 114 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tarrant County.

TCPH officials will notify residents with tests results.

MedStar and TCPH officials have implemented this program to prevent residents who are under investigation for coronavirus from having to travel in public for more testing.

MedStar is providing the service at no cost to TCPH.

Authorities noted that residents cannot call MedStar and ask for in-home testing. The program is for residents under investigation for COVID-19 by TCPH..
