TSA officer who worked Friday at DFW Airport tests positive for coronavirus

A TSA officer at DFW Airport has tested positive for coronavirus.

The officer worked a shift Friday at Terminal D, at the checkpoint near gate D18. The shift was 4 p.m. to midnight.

In the past 14 days, 24 Transportation Security Administration screening officers and seven non-screening employees have tested positive, the federal agency said on its website.

However, this is the first positive test involving a screener at a Texas airport.

“TSA is working with the CDC and state and local health departments to monitor local situations as well as the health and safety of our employees and the traveling public,” TSA said in a statement. “Impacted security checkpoints may close as needed, so you may be redirected to other security screening checkpoints at the airport.”

Travelers who passed through the D18 security checkpoint at DFW Airport are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider, if they feel they might have been exposed to the virus, also known as COVID-19.
