Tarrant tax office stopping in-person transactions Thursday because of coronavirus
In-person transactions at Tarrant County tax offices are being suspended because of concerns about the spread of coronavirus, Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector Wendy Burgess announced Wednesday afternoon.
The move is “for the safety of our employees and the community,” she said in a press release. “The Tax Office is not closed.”
She stressed that employees will continue to provide services online and by phone, mail and drop boxes.
Payments may be made, and auto registration may be renewed, for instance, through drop boxes at Tarrant tax offices or the Tarrant County Credit Union between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The drop boxes are at:
▪ 100 E. Weatherford Street, Downtown Fort Worth — on the west side of the County Administration Building — facing Main Street
▪ 645 Grapevine Highway, Hurst — on the northwest side of the Sub-Courthouse
▪ 6713 Telephone Road, Lake Worth — on the front side of the Sub-Courthouse
Burgess said only checks, money orders or cashier’s checks will be accepted. Envelopes containing payments should be marked “Tax Office” and receipts will be mailed within 10 to 14 days.
