Arlington expected to limit bars, restaurants to delivery, carryout amid coronavirus

The Arlngton city council will vote later today on whether to join Dallas and Fort Worth in limiting restaurants and bars to delivery and carry-out, Mayor Jeff Williams told a local radio station.

“I anticipate following exactly what Fort Worth did,” Williams told KRLD/1080 AM.

“”I imagine they will be closed at the end of the day today” after a special called council meeting, he said.

A special emergency meeting of council is scheduled for 5 p.m. The agenda item mentions “adopting and approving certain rules to protect the health of persons in the City.”

Under Texas law, the governor, county judge and mayor have the power to “control the movement of persons and the occupancy of premises” during a disaster declaration.
