Johnson County confirms first coronavirus case, with second likely case pending results

The first case of the coronavirus has been confirmed in Johnson County, according to officials.

A man in his 40s has tested positive in the northeast part of the county, according to Johnson County Emergency Management. The confirmation was made by the Texas Department of Health Services.

The county includes Cleburne, Joshua and Alvarado and reaches to the south side of Burleson and near Mansfield in its northeast corner.

The case was announced during an emergency meeting of the Johnson County Commissioners Court. Johnson County Judge Roger Harmon said a second confirmation is pending test results. Johnson County is preparing to announce a disaster declaration, according to posts on social media by Johnson County Emergency Management.
