Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price will hold daily coronavirus briefings on Facebook
Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price and city emergency staff will hold daily briefings about the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak.
Those briefings will be held through Facebook Live each day at 6 p.m., the Fort Worth Emergency Operations Center said in a tweet. The videos may also be streamed on the city’s website.
Price will be joined by Fort Worth police and fire officials as well as other emergency command staff.
Price and Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley last week declared a state of emergency amid the outbreak of coroanvirus, which causes a flu-like illness. There is currently no cure. While young, healthy people may experience mild or no symptoms, the disease potentially fatal to those with weakened immune systems.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, Tarrant County had reported five cases of the virus. Dallas County had 19 cases.
The city and county declarations ban gatherings larger than 250 people and request residents stay home for 14 days. President Donald Trump Monday, urged people to avoid crowds larger than five and to cancel all discretionary travel.
