More housing could be coming to far north Fort Worth.

Home builder Hawkins Custom Homes is looking to develop 128 townhomes near the intersection of Comanche Springs Drive and East Bailey Boswell Road on a parcel that straddles the border of Fort Worth and Saginaw.

The Fort Worth City Council was scheduled to vote Tuesday on a zoning change to make way for 59 townhomes on the Fort Worth side of the border, however the developer asked to go back to the zoning commission to have more time to discuss the project with neighborhs, said Travis Clegg, a real estate consultant representing Hawkins Custom Homes.

The 15 acres on the Saginaw side of the property could have around 69 townhomes with the southern section of the property being developed for commercial use, Clegg said Monday.

Speaking at a Fort Worth zoning commission meeting in February, Clegg said the townhomes would be sold for around $300,000.

The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw school district opposes the project over traffic concerns, spokesperson Megan Overman said in an email to the Star-Telegram.

Both the entrance and exit spill out onto Comanche Springs Drive, which is the main route leading to the middle school and Comanche Springs Elementary School, Overman said.

The district will continue to oppose the project until the developer can get another access point besides Comanche Springs Drive, she said.

The project will go before the Fort Worth zoning commission on May 10.
