This development west of Fort Worth will offer homes for less than $300,000

As home prices continue to skyrocket in Parker County, Diane Nix Kessler, president of DMK Properties, wants to provide new homebuyers with the opportunity to enter the area’s tight housing market.
The homes at The Wells — Mineral Wells’ first planned development — will be priced in the $200,000s. The median home price in Parker County reached $385,000 in June. The Wells is on near the border of Palo Pinto and Parker counties.
“We really feel like we’re going to pull a lot of residents from Weatherford that are being priced out of that market right now,” said Kessler.
The 113-acre community will contain 486 homes on lots ranging from 40 to 60 feet in width. Lots in the first phase are expected to become available by the end of 2022.
The Wells is on FM 1821 south of U.S. 180 in the Mineral Wells school district.
Plans for the neighborhood include 12 acres of green space, walking trails, a fishing pond, a community garden and even a chicken coop.
In a nod to the town’s history, street names of the development will be named after old local water wells.
The new neighorhood is part of a years-long effort to revitalize Mineral Wells, formerly home to a helicopter base and a famous spa. The project is anchored by the renovation of two iconic local hotels: the Crazy Water Hotel and the Baker Hotel.
“There are lots of great things happening,” Kessler said. “There are some great businesses and industries that are taking a hard look at Mineral Wells.”
