UPS is hiring so many people, the company’s job fair is being called ‘Brown Friday’
UPS has dubbed it “Brown Friday.”
The shipping company — known for its brown trucks and advertising slogan “What can Brown do for you?” — hopes to hire 40,000 workers in one day to gear up for the busy holiday season. That includes more than 2,600 new seasonal jobs in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Applicants are encouraged to attend one of several job fairs being held simultaneously Friday in North Texas.
Among the places where prospective employees can attend a job fair:
▪ 1300 E. Northside Drive in Fort Worth
▪ 1683 W. Airfield Drive in Grapevine
▪ 13700 Independence Parkway, Fort Worth (Alliance area)
▪ 1400 Intermodal Parkway, Haslet (Alliance area)
In all, there will be more than 170 job fairs nationwide.
Available jobs include driver helpers, package handlers and seasonal drivers. And, company officials say these seasonal positions can become a “foot in the door” to full-time work.
“Many of those who come to one of our job fairs this Friday could be signed up for a seasonal role by Monday,” said Stefond Harris, Vice President of Human Resources.
