FedEx is ramping up for the busy holiday shipping season.

Officials at the delivery company announced that they intend to hire about 50,000 seasonal workers throughout their network, including 4,200 employees in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Open positions include package handlers, drivers and other supporting roles. Most of the jobs will be part of the company’s FedEx Ground facilities.

Although many of the jobs are meant to be temporary, in many cases they could be extended throughout the year, company officials said.

“FedEx offers its team members the chance to grow and reach their full potential thanks to excellent training, affordable medical benefits and a strong ‘promote from within’ culture,” said Dan Griffith, Dallas hub senior manager.

“It’s a great place to grow and advance your career, and these factors make FedEx one of the best and most admired companies to work for around the world.”
