Fort Worth Stockyards hotel plans $9 million renovation

The Hyatt Place Hotel on the eastern end of the Stockyards is getting a glow up.

Documents filed with the city of Fort Worth — obtained through a public records request — show the building’s owner, Stockyards Heritage Development Co., wants to update the building’s entrance and pool area.

A patio will be added to the right of the front entrance, according to plans submitted to the city. Windows will be replaced with doors, and the seating area will be bordered by a cobblestone wall.

On the south side of the building, the existing patio closest to Mule Alley will be expanded with bench seating, fire pits, and a pergola, according to renderings.

The pool will have a similar pergola with curtains to create cabana-style seating.

The hotel is also due for a complete interior renovation, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The renovations, both interior and exterior, are expected to cost $9 million and run from August to January, according to the TDLR filing.

The details of that renovation were not present in the records obtained through the records request.

Stockyards Heritage Development Co. is excited about the renovation, and is looking forward to sharing more information about the project soon, the company’s chief operating officer Kristin Assad said in a statement to the Star-Telegram

“Our focus remains on elevating the guest experience to better reflect the unique spirit of the Stockyards,” she said.
