Southlake and Colleyville offer incentives to shop and eat at local businesses
As the weather warms up and more people start shopping again after the holiday season, Southlake and Colleyville are offering incentives to residents to spend money at their local stores, restaurants and entertainment spaces.
Collevyille is offering a $35 restaurant gift card to use at participating local eateries through Feb. 27. Residents are required to show a photo ID.
The cards expire March 1 and are limited to one card per household. Residents can pick up a card while supplies last from the Colleyville Center, Colleyville Public Library and the Recreation Center.

For the third year, Southlake launched its Open Rewards program that gives customers 5% cash back on local retail, restaurants and entertainment.
According to the city, the program which works through the Open Rewards app on Apple and Google app stores helps boost Southlake’s sales tax revenue when businesses see dips right after the Christmas holiday season.
Dylan Duque, economic development and tourism manager for the city said, last year the program generated $2 million with 350 businesses participating and 3300 users. The program began on Feb. 1, and will run until funds are available.
“The success of Open Rewards in Southlake comes from a community that chooses to shop local, turning everyday purchases into meaningful rewards and measurable impact,” Duque said in a Southlake City Spotlight video.
“I think it was well received, and I think that played itself out with the statistics,” Mayor Shawn McCaskill said at a city council meeting.
For every $100 a user spends, they get 5% cash back. According to Duque, the app is easy to navigate. Once users get into the app, they can upload their receipts and claim or redeem rewards through Zelle, PayPal and other payment services while funds last.
