We’re getting another one! Here’s where the next Fort Worth Portillo’s will be

Cowtown residents will soon have another place to get their beef when Chicago-based Portillo’s opens its second location in far north Fort Worth.

The new restaurant will be located in the Tanger Outlet Mall just south of the Olive Garden, according to city records.

Construction was expected to start in January, according to state records, however, city building permits weren’t filed until this week. Once started, construction is expected to take five months and cost $4.5 million to build, according to records filed with the state.

This will be the company’s second north Fort Worth location after its location at 8789 Tehama Ridge Parkway opened in 2024.

The 62-year-old hot dog chain, which got its start in a suburb west of Chicago, Illinois, opened its first Texas restaurant in January 2023 to long lines at 5752 Grandscape Blvd., at The Colony.

Since then, it’s opened stores in Arlington, Mansfield, Grand Prairie, Grapevine and Denton.

The chain is famous for its Chicago-style hot dogs, which consists of mustard, relish, celery salt, chopped onions, sliced tomatoes, kosher pickle, and sport peppers on a poppy seed bun.

One thing you won’t find on a Chicago-style hot dog is ketchup.

“That’s like putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa,” the company says on a page on its website. However, customers won’t be judged for requesting ketchup.

In addition to hot dogs, Portillo’s is also known for its Italian beef sandwiches, chopped salad, cheese fries, homemade chocolate cake, and chocolate cake shake, according to its website.
