New $200 million Amazon facility expected to bring almost 1,000 jobs to North Texas

Amazon is planning to build a 1.7 million-square-foot operations facility in Cleburne, the city announced Tuesday.

The $200 million project is expected to create between 800 and 1,000 jobs in Johnson County. Construction on the facility, located near the intersection of Chisholm Trail Parkway and West Industrial Boulevard, is slated to begin this week.

The project will likely have a significant economic impact on Cleburne, a city about 32 miles south of Fort Worth with a population of roughly 31,300.

“This investment will not only create new opportunities for our residents but also further solidify Cleburne as a key player in the region’s economic landscape,” said Mayor Scott Cain.

Amazon’s operations employees across the United States have an average hourly wage of over $22 per hour, well above Texas’ minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. The global online retailer employs about 89,000 people in Texas and has over 80 operations facilities in the state.

Amazon made a net income of over $30 billion in 2023.
