Feds award $80 million for 2-mile long bridge in northern Tarrant County
The federal government has awarded $80 million for a planned 1.8-mile long bridge that will connect Texas 170 and Intermodal Parkway in Haslet.
The North Central Texas Council of Governments was awarded the grant on Oct. 21.
The bridge would be built along Haslet Parkway to allow freight traffic to easily go between BNSF’s intermodal hub and the nearby Alliance warehouses.
Alliance’s Global Logistics Hub has an industrial airport, BNSF terminal and one of the country’s largest intermodal yards.
Work on the grant-funded project is expected to create jobs in construction, transportation, logistics, engineering and technology.
“The project will significantly benefit freight mobility and efficiency while incorporating innovative technologies to create a network for connected and automated trucks,” stated a fact sheet about the grant.
The Alliance Global Logistics Hub is part of AllianceTexas, a 27,000-acre mixed-use development in far north Fort Worth built by Dallas-based developer Hillwood.
