Largest ever Buc-ee’s set to open in Texas. Here’s when the travel center opens its doors

Buc–ee’s will soon open its largest travel center in the United States.

The over 75,000 square-foot travel center in Luling will have 120 gas pumps, along with fan-favorite items like Texas barbecue, fudge, Beaver Nuggets and Buc-ee’s-branded apparel.

The store is expected to employ a minimum of 200 people, according to a company press release. Buc-ee’s broke ground on the project in late 2022.

Located at Interstate 10 and Texas 80, about 55 miles northeast of San Antonio, the new Buc-ee’s will open at 6 a.m. on June 10, with a ribbon cutting scheduled for noon. The store will replace the original Buc-ee’s, which opened on the site in 2003.

Buc-ee’s opened a location in Hillsboro on Interstate 35 at the end of April. The $60 million project broke ground in 2023.

Permits for construction of a $6 million car wash at Fort Worth Buc-ee’s, on Interstate 35W near Texas Motor Speedway, were filed in late 2023.

The privately-owned company has expanded to eight states across the south since 2019, though not without pushback from some communities. Its inaugural Virginia and Mississippi locations are under construction.
