H-E-B to break ground on second North Texas location of Joe V’s Smart Shop

H-E-B will break ground Wednesday afternoon on its second Joe V’s location in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The new store is at 5204 S. Buckner Blvd. in Dallas and will open in the spring of 2025.

The first Joe V’s in the Metroplex, at 4101 W. Wheatland Road in Dallas, broke ground in December and is expected to open this summer.

Like Aldi, Joe V’s is aimed at price-conscious shoppers and will have fewer items than conventional grocery stores. H-E-B says the store will offer “community focused products, from your favorite H-E-B brands to well-known national brands.”

The first Joe V’s opened in Houston in 2010.

The San Antonio based grocery store chain is slated to open its first Tarrant County store this spring in far north Fort Worth, though an opening date has not been set.

The company also has plans for two additional stores in the county, including one in Mansfield that broke ground in February 2023.
