Developer transforming old Saginaw fire station for restaurants. Here’s what’s planned
A former fire station will become a destination for restaurants and outdoor entertainment in Saginaw.
Dallas-based Local Favorite Restaurants plans to bring three restaurants and outdoor entertainment to the former fire station at 400 Saginaw Blvd. Local Favorite owns a range of brands, including El Fenix, Snuffer’s and Twisted Root Burger Co.
The development, the Station at Saginaw, should be ready to open in late 2024 if not sooner, city manager Gabe Reaume said in an email. Local Favorite is drafting plans and conducting materials testing, Reaume said.
The restaurants are Twisted Root Burger Co., Taqueria La Ventana, and Del Toro BBQ.
The company is required to open the restaurants by the end of 2024, according to an agreement with the City Council. In exchange, Local Favorite would get approximately two acres from the city with space for the outdoor entertainment. Besides the fire station, the land includes a log cabin, which was the former senior citizens center.
The agreement also requires Local Favorite to pay $2.5 million for capital investments for the property.
Reaume said the Station at Saginaw is an exciting development because there isn’t anything like it in the city, and residents have to go to Alliance for entertainment.
