Home from college for the holidays? Lockheed Martin may have a job for you
If you’re a college student and building fighter planes is your idea of a cool career, Lockheed Martin officials say they may have a place for you.
Lockheed Martin will hold a job fair aimed at recruiting college students home for the holidays. The job fair will be 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Omni hotel in downtown Fort Worth.
The theme is “Home for the Holidays,” and it’s aimed at recent college graduates or soon-to-be grads looking for full-time jobs in engineering fields, as well as students seeking internships.
“Attending this event gives you the chance to meet directly with our Hiring Managers, Executives, and team members,” the company, which builds the F-35 fighter jet at its sprawling west Fort Worth plant, posted on its jobs website. “After having the opportunity to interview, our team will be making same day hiring decisions and will get back to you the following week.”
Students should be at least sophomores, and have a minimum 2.8 grade-point average, according to a University of Houston business college online posting to its students.
Before heading to the job fair, make sure you’re in the target demographic. For this event, Lockheed Martin is only looking for students with majors in the fields of systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, aeronautical engineering, systems engineering and supply chain management.
All of the jobs will be based in Fort Worth, where Lockheed Martin Aeronautics already employs about 16,400 people.
Interested candidates can text “LockheedMartin” to 97211 for more information,” Lockheed Martin Aeronautics spokesman Kenneth Ross said in an email.
Ross said there was no specific number of job openings available, and that company managers would decide how many positions to fill based on how the job fair goes.
