New leaders named at Blue Zones Project, American Red Cross

Matt Dufrene has joined Blue Zones Project, Fort Worth, as vice president of the citywide well-being improvement initiative. Dufrene replaces Suzanne Duda, who is stepping down after leading Blue Zones Project since September 2014. Dufrene comes to Blue Zones Project from United Way of Tarrant County, where he served as vice president of major gifts.

Kurt Schaal has joined the middle market commercial banking team of Capital One in Fort Worth as a senior vice president. Schaal will be responsible for building relationships with large and middle-market companies based in Tarrant County and surrounding areas. Schaal joins Capital One from BBVA Compass, where he spent 10 years as a middle market commercial banker, most recently serving as a vice president.

Keith Rhodes has been named American Red Cross CEO for the North Texas region, responsible for enhancing the Red Cross mission across its 121 Texas counties. Rhodes previously served in executive positions with Big Brother Big Sisters, Boys Town California and Methodist Home for Children of New Orleans.

Avanti Senior Living announced three new hires for its newest community, Avanti Senior Living at Flower Mound. Vicki Lee King was named executive director, responsible for daily operations. Lee King has served as executive director, residence director and other management positions at senior living communities in Dallas-Fort Worth. Sheila Ricketts was named community relations director, where she will assist in conducting outreach and maintaining positive relations with clients. And Renee Rachels was named family and resident advocate.


Carter BloodCare announced three additions to its board of directors: Dr. Pamela Jensen, a board-certified pathologist on the medical staff of several Texas Health Resourcesfacilities; Jill “J.R.” Labbe, vice president of communications and community affairs for JPS Health Network; and Dr. Moyne Kornman, board-certified in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine/blood banking and medical director of Laboratory and Blood Bank Services for Longview Regional Medical Center.

Dr. John J. Warner, vice president and CEO of UT Southwestern Medical Center University Hospitals, will become president-elect of the American Heart Association on July 1 for 2016-17 and then serve as president for 2017-18. Warner has served on the Dallas, Southwest affiliate board and national board for the association. Dr. Joseph Hill, Chief of UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Division of Cardiology and director of the Harry S. Moss Heart Center, has been selected as the upcoming editor-in-chief for the association’s principal scientific journal, Circulation.


Donna Noto of RE/MAX Pinnacle Realtors has been named among the 2016 10 Best Real Estate Professionals for Client Satisfaction in Texas by the American Institute of Real Estate Professionals.
