Longtime Ford dealer Sam Pack has assembled land along William D. Tate Avenue near Prospect Parkway in Grapevine for a Subaru dealership.
Pack, owner of Five Star Ford in North Richland Hills and three other area Ford outlets, said he’d like to have the dealership open by the end of the year.
“We’ve got lots going on,” said Pack, who has sold Fords for 35 years. “It’s a busy time for us. We’ve been working on this [Subaru] project for quite some period of time. Dallas-Fort Worth is growing. It’s a great business climate.”
In November, his Pack Properties IX bought 8 acres just south of Grapevine Dodge Chrysler Jeep, along the east side of Texas 121 and just south of Prospect Parkway. Half the land was sold by Harbour Realty Corp. in Dallas and the other half by Parra Brothers Real Estate, deed records show.
“This is our first venture with Subaru,” Pack said.
He sells primarily Fords but is involved in a Chevrolet dealership in Tulsa and a Honda dealership near Baton Rouge, La. In November, Pack bought Van Chevrolet in Carrollton and renamed it Five Star Chevrolet.
The Subaru dealership will feature a two-story, 40,000-square-foot showroom, office and service center, he said. The dealership will open with 35 to 40 employees, a number that could grow based on demand, Pack said.
He said he chose Grapevine because he wanted to be in the northern part of the Metroplex.
Pack has operated Five Star Ford on the south side of Northeast Loop 820 at Rufe Snow Drive in North Richland Hills since 1997. The location is the No. 1 Ford store in Texas and No. 5 in the nation. His other locations are in Carrollton, Lewisville and Plano.
