Fort Worth Real Estate Council forecast set for Jan. 15
Eight commercial real estate professionals will present their predictions for the coming year when the Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth hosts the 2015 Tarrant County Commercial Real Estate Forecast on Jan. 15 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
The event, in its 26th year, will run from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. It will be held in Ballrooms A-C at the convention center, 1201 Houston St.
Speakers and topics are Peter Beck of the Beck Group, construction market; David Berzina, executive vice president of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, economic development in Tarrant County; Stephen Coslik of the Woodmont Co., retail and mixed use; Tony Crème of Hillwood Properties, industrial market; Drew Kile of Institutional Property Advisors, multifamily market; David Walters of Jones Lang LaSalle, office market; and Jay Redford and Keri Redford of Integra Realty Resources, DFW, on “The Good, The Bad, The Predictions.”
“This is a must-attend event, where industry leaders will provide invaluable predictions and insights into what to expect in 2015 in the Tarrant County area commercial real estate market,” said Jeff Davis of Republic Title, chairman of the Real Estate Council.
The cost in advance is $90 for nonmembers, $75 for members and $55 for students. A late fee of $10 will be applied to those who register after Jan. 12.
Proceeds benefit the chamber’s economic development program and the Real Estate Council’s community projects.
Walnut Creek Academy buys property
Walnut Creek Academy has bought the three-building property at 1751 N. Walnut Creek Drive in Mansfield, which it has leased since late spring.
The campus was developed in the mid-1980s and totals about 27,000 square feet of space.
The educational center, formerly Walnut Creek Private School, offers pre-kindergarten to third-grade programs. It plans to add fourth grade for the 2015-16 school year and eventually expand to all grades.
Wayne Burgdorf of Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance DFW represented the buyer. Bill Makens of the Makens Co. represented the seller, Mansfield Educational Property.
Zillow says D-FW home values up
The value of homes in Dallas-Fort Worth rose 7.4 percent this year, according to a recent report on U.S. home values from Zillow.
DFW homes gained $24.6 billion, bringing the total value of all homes in the Metroplex to $355.8 billion, Zillow said.
In the U.S., home values rose $1.7 trillion this year, the third consecutive year of overall gains, Zillow said. At the end of the year, U.S. homes will be worth $27.5 trillion, up 6.7 percent overall.
Between December 2006 and December 2011, home values fell $6.1 trillion nationwide.
Among major markets, home values were up 13.6 percent in Miami, 12.8 percent in Atlanta, 11.9 percent in Houston and Orlando and 11.5 percent in Las Vegas.
