‘Total luxury’: A look inside DFW Airport Grand Hyatt’s $34 million renovations
The Grand Hyatt Hotel at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport unveiled its new $34 million renovations in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new “Flight Deck” of the hotel.
The project, which started just over seven months ago, includes the new top-floor Flight Deck with working spaces and conference rooms, a rooftop swimming pool with views of runways, newly renovated king and suite rooms, a renovated bar and restaurant and a new modern check-in lobby.
The renovations were in honor of the hotel’s 20th anniversary since its opening in 2006.
“We have spent months transforming our hotel to be among the finest in the world,” said Jeff Babcock, the hotel’s general manager. “We believe that the experiences here are truly a world apart.”
The renovation projected included updates to the existing 298 guestrooms and the addition of 17 more, and added new technology like better HD TVs, blackout curtains and “refreshed” designs.
All rooms and suites now have an aeronautical design that “incorporates the style of Texas landscape” by using local woods like Red River Pecan and Yellow Pine to what hotel leadership describes as a new “sophisticated feel” to guestrooms.
Rooms are also now equipped with customizable thermostats, improved lighting controls, updated noise-canceling acoustics, stitched leather headboards and integrated accent lighting. Bathrooms in guestrooms were also renovated with larger closets, vanities, showers and tubs.
“We are starting a new exciting chapter at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport,” said Mohamed Charkas, the airport’s chief development and infrastructure officer. “What you see is a $34 million investment that is transformational, and it reflects our airport’s vision to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Every aspect of the property was reimagined, from guestrooms to the lobby, to meeting and restaurant spaces.”
The Grand Met restaurant, bar and lounge was updated with marble-tile flooring and local artwork. The restaurant has an increased seating capacity, redesigned private and semi-private dining rooms and a new seasonal menu with global fusion dining options.
A new top-floor executive boardroom and rooftop event space overlooking runways was also added to the already existing 20,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Grand Hyatt renovation is the first step in a much larger multi-billion dollar airport expansion transformation project. Construction is underway on a new 15-gate Terminal F, the addition of 115,000 square feet to Terminal C, additional exits to Terminals A and B, and additional parking garages.
