Bedford getting another grocery store as development takes shape near Airport Freeway
Sprouts Farmers Market is coming to the Gateway Plaza development that is taking shape at the northwest corner of Industrial Boulevard and Airport Freeway in Bedford.
City spokesperson Molly Fox no other tenants have been announced. Sprouts officials are working on details such as when construction will start and when the 22,435-square-foot store will open.
The 18.77-acre development will include a plaza area, 100 townhomes and two 10,500-square-foot buildings for shops or restaurants.
Dickerson Development Company and StreetLevel Investments, both of Dallas, are handling the residential and commercial pieces of the development.
Bedford purchased the property from Cross City Church (formerly First Baptist Church of Euless) for $9.5 million in December 2021 so the city could have a say in future development of the property. It sold the property to the developers in June for $7.3 million. City manager Andrea Roy said at the time that high interest rates and inflation had created challenges in the commercial real estate market.
Bedford expects to see additional revenue since the land will lose its tax exempt status. Information from the city shows that the combination of commercial and residential development will bring in around $680,000 annually in property and sales tax.
