The corner of Wilshire and Summercrest boulevards in Burleson will see three new restaurants in a redevelopment effort.

The city of Burleson announced the new restaurants Fatburger, Coolgreens and Hawaiian Bros Island Grill will replace two vacant buildings, which will be demolished by Retail Connection and its investment partners.

The redevelopment will be the Retail Connection’s third project in Burleson. The real estate services firm also worked on Burleson Village and the H-E-B Shopping Center on Texas 174 and FM 731.

There is a growing interest in the Burleson area, which grew around 19% from 2010-2021, according to the Retail Connection.

“The interest level we have had from all prospective tenants has been very inspiring, to say the least,” Tony Filley, the Retail Connection executive vice president, said in the press release. “We’ve had the opportunity to work with the top tenants in their respective categories, and this is indicative of how vibrant and exciting Burleson has become.”

The bond between the real estate group and the city has grown, also, indicating there may be more redevelopment and joint projects in the future.

“Burleson has a tremendous amount of upside with unlimited opportunities. It is always helpful when working with a city that has the same values and visions, said Filley. “The City of Burleson has been fantastic to work with and we are always looking down the road for future projects.”
