Chipotle Mexican Grill will start construction this summer on a new location in northern Fort Worth with a drive-thru lane.

State records show the chain of fast-casual Mexican restaurants will build a 2,325-square-foot location at 6301 N. Beach St., near the intersection of Western Center Boulevard. The site is next to the Albertson’s grocery store shopping center.

The $1.5 million construction project begins in late July and is expected to finish in early December.

This month, Chipotle announced it is rolling out a new all-electric building design that works to maximize efficiency in its equipment and use 100% renewable energy through the purchase of certified renewable energy credits.

The company recently opened examples in Gloucester, Virginia, and Jacksonville, Florida, with a third location opening this summer in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Chipotle’s new restaurant design is all electric, aims to maximize energy efficiency, and utilizes 100% renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from energy use at the restaurants where it’s implemented.

A spokesperson for Chipotle told the Star-Telegram that the new Fort Worth restaurant will not be the all-electric design, “but it will feature the brand’s signature Chipotlane, a drive-thru pickup lane that allows guests to conveniently pick up digital orders without leaving their cars.”

Chipotle had nearly 3,200 restaurants as of December and plans to grow to 7,000. It is the largest restaurant company that owns and operates all its restaurants.
