Andretti Indoor Karting & Games to build $18.5M center in Fort Worth with laser tag
Fort Worth residents may be getting a new venue to exercise their need for speed with Andretti Indoor Karting & Games planning a large entertainment center along Interstate 35W.
The 98,000-square-foot center named after the famous family of legendary racers will feature a go-kart track, laser tag and arcade, as well as a bar, restaurant and event space, according to permits filed with the city of Fort Worth and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The $18.5 million project will be built near I-35W and North Tarrant Parkway, next to the furniture store Living Spaces. Construction is expected to begin in early February 2023 and wrap up in October 2024, according to the permit filed with the state.
This would be the company’s third location in the Fort Worth-Dallas Metroplex. It has one location in The Colony, and is developing another in Grand Prairie near Interstate 20 and President George Bush Turnpike. Construction in Grand Prairie is expected to begin in February and finish in spring 2024.
The other six existing locations are in San Antonio and Katy, as well as one in Orlando and two in Georgia. A center is also planned in Durham, North Carolina.
Race car driver John Andretti, who died in 2020, partnered with a Florida businessman on the original location in 1999. He was the nephew of Mario Andretti, the Italian-American racer who is the only man to have won the Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500 and Formula One World Championship.
In addition to go-karts, arcades and two-level laser tag arena, The Colony location features racing-themed “boutique” bowling lanes and two virtual reality attractions including the four-person “hyperdeck” that uses heating fans and a movable platform to give players an immersive experience.
