9 places to celebrate Small Business Saturday in Fort Worth
The COVID-19 pandemic and inflation have been catastrophic for small businesses, but experts say they are likely to make a comeback this holiday season in time for Small Business Saturday.
“It’s really really hard to predict because of the economy of the last two years,” said Jim Lewis, mentor with SCORE Fort Worth, a nonprofit organization and resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration. “But I think that we should expect a big deal this year. I think that shopping is going to be at least at the level of 2019. I’m expecting a big Christmas for small businesses.”
Realizing the impact of the pandemic on small businesses, more locals are looking to support them on Small Business Saturday and beyond, says Dave Sperry, chairman of SCORE Fort Worth. “It’s growing each year,” he said.
“Small businesses really are the backbone of the country and small businesses very often turn into large businesses,” Sperry said. “Particularly with the economy being the way it is, small businesses are struggling more than ever, and anything anybody can do to support the small businesses is much appreciated, and they should do it because it’s the future of the country and the future of a lot of jobs.”
